Parents should consult the weekly Sunday Bulletin for general information regarding the Religious Education Program. Written communication reflecting changes in the program calendar or special up-coming events will also be sent home with the students.
Tuition & Fees:
The registration fee for each person enrolled in religious education (faith formation) classes is $25.00 per person. We will provide the materials needed in class. A Confirmation Retreat fee has not been set. The fee will be determined by the cost of food and other items needed for the retreat. If the Retreat is held at the St. Therese Parish Hall and food items are donated, there may not be an additional fee.
The time that we spend on religious instruction is short. It is important that all children be on time for classes at all times.
Please notify us by either calling the religious education office or leave a message when you know your child will not be attending a session. Leave complete information as to how we can get the information on make-up work to you. The number at the religious education office is (505) 344-7643.
Parents or guardians who find themselves in a situation which calls for early release of a child from faith formation classes are directed to:
1. Provide advance notification to the Religious Education Office (505) 344-7643. This information should include: Name of child, grade, date and time; reason for early release and name of person to release child to.
2. Upon receiving permission for early dismissal of a child, the parent or guardian or caretaker should pick the child up at the registration office. Identification may be required.
3. All children must be signed in and out by an authorized person. No child will be allowed to sign themselves in or out. No child will be allowed to wait in the parking lot for his/her parents.
Parents, since the Church teaches that you are the primary educators of your child(ren), any parent who wishes to home school their child(ren) at home are encouraged to do so. The parent or guardian will be required to register their child(ren). The registration fee is $25.00 for each child. The religious education office will provide you with information, a textbook, and resources. The parent and child(ren) must make an appointment with the Director of Religious Education at the end of each semester for an interview with the child(ren), and parents must attend all parent sessions and other mandatory activities if the child(ren) is enrolled in the Sacrament Program (Reconciliation, Eucharist, or Confirmation). All other requirements, guidelines and rules are the same whether the child attends classes at St. Therese or at home.
We strive to teach an emphasis on God’s love. We, however, expect all students to behave in a respectful and appropriate manner. Respect for classmates, catechists, staff, clergy and church are a priority. We cannot provide religious education and formation without the cooperation and support of parents.
Because parents are the primary educators of their children in all areas, especially that of our Faith, we urge families to participate in weekly attendance at Sunday Mass and fulfill their Sunday obligation. All staff members assist in the effort to promote participation in the Faith among our students and their families.
